Acadian Ambulance / First Responder Health Programs

Acadian Ambulance is an employee-owned private ambulance service founded in 1971 and headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana. It covers most of Louisiana, a large portion of Texas, and select counties in Tennessee and Mississippi. Recognized in 1995 as the largest privately owned ambulance service in the United States, the company has grown into a family of eight divisions spanning ambulance service, air medical transport, executive aircraft charter, security, EMS education, industrial health, federal resources, and safety management.

At scale, Acadian operates a fleet of more than 400 ground ambulances, eight medical transport helicopters, and five fixed-wing aircraft, serving more than 70 counties across four states. Its National EMS Academy, launched in 2003 and accredited by CAAHEP, trains EMTs and paramedics for agencies across the country in collaboration with South Louisiana Community College.

Through its Safety Management Systems (SMS) division, Acadian delivers on-site industrial health services — including ER-level treatment at offshore and industrial worksites — reducing lost time and medical evacuations. The company also extends first responder support into community health initiatives, such as its First Responder Autism Resource Kit developed in collaboration with behavioral health organizations and law enforcement.
