Ancestry.com Operations Inc. is an American genealogy company headquartered in Lehi, Utah, and the largest for-profit genealogy company in the world. Founded in 1983 as a publishing company, it pioneered the online family history research market and has been digitizing and indexing historical records since 1996. The company is currently privately held, owned by Blackstone Inc. following a $4.7 billion acquisition in December 2020.

Ancestry operates a network of genealogical and historical record websites, combining over 30 billion digitized historical records with millions of family trees and a consumer DNA network. By 2023, it was the largest provider of consumer DNA testing globally, with more than 25 million users and AncestryDNA testing available in 128 countries. Additional platforms under the Ancestry umbrella include Fold3 (military records), Find a Grave, and Newspapers.com.

The company has invested over $300 million to build its historical records collection and continues to expand its DNA science capabilities. In October 2024, Ancestry launched its largest-ever AncestryDNA update, adding 24 new ancestral regions and content representing 64 ethnic groups from across Africa. Leadership transitioned in February 2025, with Howard Hochhauser becoming President & CEO.
