Cargill Aqua Nutrition

Cargill Aqua Nutrition (CQN) is the aquaculture-feed business unit of Cargill, Inc., the privately held U.S. agribusiness headquartered in Minnesota. It supplies nutrition and feed products to the global aquaculture (farmed fish and shellfish) industry, operating across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia.

The business was significantly built through Cargill's 2015 acquisition of EWOS, a Norway-based salmon-feed producer founded in 1935, purchased from private-equity owners Altor Fund III and Bain Capital Europe III for approximately €1.35 billion (about US$1.5 billion). Completed in October 2015, the deal was one of Cargill's largest acquisitions by value and substantially expanded its position in the fast-growing fish-feed market; at the time, EWOS produced more than 1.2 million metric tons of salmon feed annually.

Cargill Aqua Nutrition supplies feed through brands including Cargill, Purina, EWOS, and AQUAXCEL, focusing on three core species—salmon, tilapia, and shrimp—while also offering feed for a wide variety of other aquaculture species. The business emphasizes species-tailored, high-quality feeds and sustainability, combining EWOS's roughly 80 years of aqua-feed experience with Cargill's expertise in animal nutrition, ingredient sourcing, and global supply chains, and publishes an annual aqua nutrition and sustainability report.

As a business unit rather than a standalone independent company, corporate figures such as revenue and headcount are generally reported at the Cargill parent level rather than for this unit alone.
