City of Jakarta

The capital city of the Republic of Indonesia and a primary political, economic, and cultural center.

Official Website of the City of Jakarta

The Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKI Jakarta) is situated on the northwest coast of Java. It functions as a province divided into five administrative cities and one administrative regency, with a city population of approximately 10 million and a metropolitan area exceeding 40 million residents.

As Indonesia's primary economic hub, Jakarta hosts central government institutions, major financial districts, and the headquarters of numerous domestic and multinational enterprises. The city is currently undergoing a transformation as the seat of government is relocated to the new capital, Nusantara, which will result in Jakarta losing its Special Capital Region designation.

To manage its urban scale, the Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented digital governance initiatives, including the Jakarta Smart City program and the JAKI (Jakarta Kini) mobile application to consolidate public services and civic information.
