DB Schenker

Global logistics giant offering air, land, sea freight and contract logistics across 130 countries

Wikipedia – Schenker AG

DB Schenker (legally Schenker AG) is a German logistics company providing end-to-end supply chain solutions across air freight, land transport, sea freight, and contract logistics. It serves multinational clients such as Apple, Procter & Gamble, Dell, ASML, and BMW, and holds leading positions in automotive, technology, consumer goods, trade fair, and special events logistics.

The company operates at significant scale, with approximately 71,000 employees across more than 1,850 locations in 130 countries and revenues of around €19 billion in 2024. In European land transport alone, it runs roughly 32,000 regular scheduled services per week across 40+ countries. Its contract logistics division manages over 8 million square metres of warehouse space at nearly 725 locations across 60+ countries.

Formerly a subsidiary of German national rail operator Deutsche Bahn, DB Schenker was sold to Danish transport and logistics group DSV in a deal valued at €14.3 billion, with the acquisition completing in 2025 to create a world-leading logistics player.

On the innovation front, DB Schenker has demonstrated appetite for emerging logistics technologies, including a 2021 cooperation with drone startup Volocopter, the launch of its own venture capital arm Schenker Ventures, and a pre-order of 1,500 electric Volta Zero commercial vehicles. This makes it a highly relevant prospect for innovations targeting supply chain efficiency, last-mile delivery, sustainable transport, or logistics automation.
