Dental Monitoring
AI-powered platform for remote monitoring of dental and orthodontic treatments
DentalMonitoring — About UsDentalMonitoring (also written "Dental Monitoring") is a Paris-based health-technology company providing an AI-powered platform for the remote monitoring of dental and orthodontic treatments. Its medical device software uses image-processing algorithms to analyze pictures of the oral cavity, with scans captured by patients using the company's mobile app.
Founded in 2014 by Philippe Salah, Emmanuel Salah and Armelle Coquart, the company is led by CEO Philippe Salah, who holds an MS in Bioinformatics and a PhD in Biophysics from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris. Salah previously co-founded Harmony, later acquired by American Orthodontics. The core offering is the DentalMonitoring SaaS platform, used alongside the DM App and a patented scanning accessory (the ScanBox / ScanBoxpro). The company says its platform is protected by over 80 patents and was the first remote monitoring solution for orthodontic treatments, positioning itself as the industry's only FDA-approved and EU-MDR-Certified remote monitoring solution, and the first AI/ML-enabled software as a medical device in dentistry (via FDA De Novo approval).
The privately held company operates in the medical-equipment manufacturing sector with 501–1,000 employees and an international footprint across Europe, the USA, Australia, Hong Kong and beyond. In 2021 it announced a $150 million growth financing (a new $90 million investment from Mérieux Equity Partners and $60 million from existing investor Vitruvian Partners), reaching unicorn status as the first dental software company valued over $1 billion. Across all rounds it has raised $255M.
As an AI-driven remote-monitoring medical device company, innovation in this space is central to its core business and competitive positioning.
