Founded in 1954, the organization has grown from a small team to approximately 13,000 employees organized across six sectors, 34 departments, and various municipal centers. It is headquartered in Al Rigga, Dubai, and is currently led by Acting Director-General Marwan Bin Ghalita.
The agency manages a wide range of city services, including waste management, health and public safety, planning, and construction services. Its responsibilities extend to the upkeep of public parks, beaches, markets, and heritage sites, as well as food safety inspections and environmental laboratory testing.
