European Partnership on Metrology - About Us

The European Partnership on Metrology is a major funding programme focused on metrology, the science of measurement. Co-financed by the European Union's Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and participating states, it is implemented by EURAMET, the European Association of National Metrology Institutes.

Launched in March 2022, the Partnership succeeds previous initiatives including the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) and the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR). It operates with an expected budget of approximately €690 million for the period between 2021 and 2027, with the EU contributing a maximum of €300 million.

The programme aims to support a wide range of policies, commerce, and the advancement of key European scientific and industrial challenges. Its scale is grounded in a history of predecessor programmes that provided €1.738 billion in support since 2007.
