Fermilab

A U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory specializing in high-energy and particle physics research.

Fermilab Official Site

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) is a national laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science, located in Batavia, Illinois. The facility focuses on high-energy and particle physics research, including studies on neutrinos, muons, dark matter, and quantum information science, while serving as a national hub for detector and particle accelerator R&D.

Historically known for the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider and contributions to the discovery of the top quark, Fermilab currently hosts the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) and leads the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). It is also developing the PIP-II linear accelerator upgrade and contributes to CERN's Large Hadron Collider program.

The laboratory is operated under contract by the Fermi Research Alliance, a partnership between the University of Chicago and the Universities Research Association.
