Frontiers

Frontiers (legally Frontiers Media SA) is a Switzerland-based academic publisher of peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journals active in science, technology, and medicine (STM). Operating on an open-access model, its articles are freely available for anyone in the world to read.

The company was founded in 2007 by a group of neuroscientists, including Kamila and Henry Markram. Kamila Markram serves as CEO and co-founder. Frontiers began in neuroscience and subsequently broadened into many additional academic disciplines.

Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, the company reported more than 1,400 employees as of 2022. On its own impact page, Frontiers states it has published a total of 695,000 articles, each open and available worldwide.
