GC Orthodontics

GC Orthodontics is the orthodontics brand/division of GC Corporation, a major global dental manufacturer founded in Tokyo, Japan on 11 February 1921 by Kiyoshi Nakao, Yoshinosuke Enjo and Tokuemon Mizuno. GC Corporation is one of the world's leading manufacturers of innovative dental materials, devices and equipment, guided by a philosophy called "Semui." GC Orthodontics America is described as a brand "where customer satisfaction defines quality."

The division grew out of events following Japan's 2011 disaster. After the Tsunami disaster of 2011 in Fukushima, GC Corporation sought to expand its contributions in orthodontics. At the same time, TOMY Inc., a leading orthodontic appliance manufacturer, faced disruption because its plant sat within the evacuation zone of the damaged nuclear facility, forcing it to open a new factory elsewhere. GC subsequently formed GC Orthodontics, assembling a team with orthodontic market expertise.

GC Orthodontics supplies a full range of fixed and removable orthodontic appliances, including self-ligating EXPERIENCE braces, LEGEND standard brackets, the Chic ceramic bracket, superelastic NiTi wires (Initialloy, Bio-Edge, Bio-Active), Sure-Snap and A-Fit bands, Tomy archwires (including lingual and ivory-coated), and aligners.

The company operates regional entities including GC Orthodontics America and GC Orthodontics Europe GmbH, the latter registered at Harkortstraße 2, 58339 Breckerfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany (AG Hagen, HRB 9197). As a manufacturer of orthodontic appliances and materials, innovations in this space are directly relevant to its product development and market position.
