Founded in 1936 and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, the business operates as a subsidiary of Honeywell, the Charlotte, North Carolina–based technology and manufacturing conglomerate. Its product lines span aircraft engines, avionics, satellites, spacecraft, and black boxes (flight recorders), serving commercial aviation, defense, and space customers worldwide.
The company is a particular leader in auxiliary power units, having invented the APU and produced more than 95,000 units over the years, with more than 36,000 still in service; in 2018 it held a 65% share of the airliner APU market. The business reported revenue of approximately US$15 billion in 2024 with roughly 40,000 employees. Jim Currier has been President and CEO since August 2023.
A corporate restructuring is underway: Honeywell has announced that Honeywell Aerospace will become an independent, publicly traded company following a planned spin-off expected to complete in the second half of 2026, positioned to be one of the largest publicly listed pure-play aerospace suppliers.
