iCivics
A nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding civic education through free digital tools.
iCivics About PageiCivics is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2009 by retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. The organization focuses on civic education by providing free online simulations and educational games where students assume roles such as judge, president, and legislator to learn the functions of the U.S. government.
In addition to digital tools, iCivics offers classroom curricula and teaching materials covering the Constitution, branches of government, citizenship, and media literacy. It is one of the largest providers of civics education resources in the United States, with reported reach of approximately 9 million students annually.
The organization also engages in policy advocacy, including championing federal civics funding legislation and co-leading the Educating for American Democracy initiative in 2021. Innovation in digital learning is central to their mission of making civics education engaging and accessible.
