American smart mobility technology company providing ITS software, sensors, and services

Wikipedia – Iteris

Iteris, Inc. is an American technology company headquartered in Austin, Texas, that provides software, hardware, and services for smart mobility infrastructure management. Its offerings span software as a service, cloud-enabled managed services, consulting and advisory services, and sensors and other devices that record and predict traffic conditions.

The company traces its roots to Odetics Inc., founded in 1969 in Anaheim, California (incorporated in Delaware in 1987), with Iteris Inc. itself established in 2004. It has a long record in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), having created the first national ITS architecture, statewide 511 system, 511 system with weather overlay, and personalized traveler information system.

Iteris operates through its ClearMobility platform, delivering cloud-enabled, end-to-end solutions to monitor, visualize, and optimize mobility infrastructure and bridge legacy technology silos. Its hardware portfolio includes video, radar, hybrid, and Bluetooth detection sensors, alongside traffic signal coordination, data analysis, engineering, and transportation planning services. A flagship recent product, "Vantage Apex," uses radar and video technology to predict and help prevent potential traffic accidents. Customers include public transportation agencies, municipalities, commercial entities, and other infrastructure providers in the U.S. and internationally.

The company is led by President and CEO Joe Bergera. On November 1, 2024, Iteris closed its acquisition by Almaviva S.p.A. in an all-cash transaction at $7.20 per share (approximately $335 million equity value); its stock ceased trading on NASDAQ. It now operates as a separate legal entity within Almaviva, retaining its brand and management. Iteris reported revenue of $156.1 million in 2023, with a secondary source citing turnover around $180 million near the time of acquisition.
