Lagos Business School
Nigeria's leading graduate business school and the business school of Pan-Atlantic University
Lagos Business School (official site)Lagos Business School (LBS) is the graduate business school of Pan-Atlantic University, owned by the non-profit Pan-Atlantic University Foundation (PAUF), registered in Nigeria. It is a private institution based in Lekki, Lagos, and was founded by three professionals — Juan Manuel Elegido, Timothy Keenly and Patrick Merino — drawing inspiration from the teachings of St. Josemaría Escrivá.
LBS began operations in 1991 as a small institution called the Centre for Professional Communications (CPC), offering management courses relevant to the Nigerian business environment. It was created to fill a clear gap: before its establishment, Nigerian companies had to send managers abroad for high-quality management training, often into courses with little relevance to African business practice. In January 2002, the Federal Government approved the establishment of the university, and LBS became its first school, offering its own Executive MBA programme that same year.
LBS offers academic programmes, executive programmes and short courses — including customised company courses and open-enrolment courses — in management. Its MBA portfolio includes full-time, modular and executive formats. It was the first business school in West, East and Central Africa to be accredited by The Association of MBAs (AMBA), and was accredited by AACSB in December 2016. Its EMBA programme ranked among the top 50 in the world in The Economist's 2018 ranking. The current Dean is Olayinka David-West.
As a graduate institution focused on management education and executive development, innovation in this space — particularly in teaching methods, programme delivery, and serving the African business context — is directly relevant to LBS's mission.
