Established in 1969, the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic is responsible for the preparation and implementation of state transport policy. Its mandate covers a wide range of infrastructure and systems, including road, rail, waterways, aviation, navigation, and information systems, as well as space, cars, and trucking.

The Ministry is currently led by Minister Ivan Bednárik. Its strategic focus for 2021–2027 emphasizes sustainable multimodal mobility and long-term sustainable development. To enhance international competitiveness, the Ministry has published an Autonomous Mobility Plan to create an environment for testing automated vehicle control technologies.

Recent operational activities include managing the development of the D35 highway between Opatovec and Mohelnice through a public-private partnership (PPP), for which the Ministry is currently evaluating bids from three construction consortia.
