Mobileye

Israeli mobility-tech leader in advanced driver-assistance and autonomous driving systems

Mobileye Official About Page

Mobileye is an Israeli mobility technology company and one of the global leaders in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving. Founded in 1999 by Prof. Amnon Shashua, who evolved his academic research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem into a monocular camera-based vision system for detecting vehicles, the company is headquartered in Jerusalem, Israel.

Mobileye went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014 and was acquired by Intel Corp. for approximately USD 15.3 billion in March 2017. It subsequently returned to public markets, trading today as Mobileye Global Inc. while remaining a subsidiary of Intel Corporation.

The company develops end-to-end ADAS and autonomous driving technologies built around its EyeQ system-on-chip (SoC) products, True Redundancy AI architecture, and Road Experience Management (REM) crowdsourced mapping. Its tiered product portfolio spans basic Driver Assist, Cloud-Enhanced Driver Assist, Mobileye SuperVision (eyes-on/hands-off), Mobileye Chauffeur (eyes-off), and the Mobileye Drive self-driving platform; its reportable segments are Mobileye and Moovit.

Mobileye sells primarily to automakers through automotive suppliers, as well as to fleet owners and operators. It had over 750 employees at the time of the Intel acquisition, with revenue growing from just over $350 million at the end of 2016 to close to $1 billion by the end of 2020. As of mid-2020, its collision-avoidance technology had been deployed in more than 60 million vehicles worldwide, including models from Audi, BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan and Volkswagen. Competition comes from compute providers such as Nvidia and Qualcomm and vertically integrated players including Huawei and Horizon Robotics. Given this focus, innovations in ADAS, autonomous driving, vision SoCs, and mapping are directly relevant to Mobileye's core business.
