Municipal Government of Jakarta
The provincial government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia.
WikipediaThe Municipal Government of Jakarta (Pemerintah Provinsi DKI Jakarta) operates as a special autonomous region under a framework of limited regional autonomy. Led by a Governor and Vice Governor, the executive branch manages local administrative functions including urban planning, public transportation, and environmental management, while remaining accountable to the President of Indonesia.
As the most populous city in Indonesia with over 11 million residents and a nominal GDP of approximately USD 226 billion in 2023, Jakarta serves as a primary transportation, economic, and cultural hub. The government is responsible for critical infrastructure such as water supply, public sanitation, and electricity.
To improve public service delivery, the government has implemented a people-centered Smart City framework focusing on six indicators: Smart Governance, Economy, Environment, People, Mobility, and Living. This innovation is particularly relevant as the city navigates its transition following legislation to relocate the national capital to Nusantara.
