Nutraceutical Companies

Vertically integrated manufacturer, marketer, and distributor of branded nutritional supplements and natural products.

Craft.co – Nutraceutical International Corporation

Nutraceutical International Corporation is an integrated manufacturer, marketer, distributor, and retailer of branded nutritional supplements and other natural products, sold primarily to and through domestic health and natural food stores. Incorporated in Delaware in 1993 and headquartered in Park City, Utah, the company is known for its vertically integrated business model — striving to control the full process from manufacturing through to retail for each product.

The company markets and distributes internationally through health and natural product distributors and retailers, and sells under a portfolio of well-known brands including Solaray®, Zhou Nutrition®, KAL®, Heritage Store®, Dynamic Health®, ZAND®, Honey Gardens®, and Nu U Nutrition®. Its core growth strategy has been to acquire, integrate, and operate businesses in the natural products industry, beginning with the acquisition of Solaray, Inc. in 1993.

In August 2017, middle-market private equity firm HGGC completed its acquisition of Nutraceutical International Corporation, at which point the company's common stock was delisted from NASDAQ. Nutraceutical now operates as part of the Better Being family of companies. Following the acquisition, founder Frank W. Gay II retired and was succeeded first by Chad J. Clawson and subsequently by Monty Sharma as CEO.

Given Nutraceutical's scale, vertically integrated supply chain, and ongoing acquisition-led growth in the natural products sector, innovations in nutritional science, manufacturing efficiency, or natural product distribution are directly relevant to its operations and strategy.
