Established in 1943 and located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is managed by UT-Battelle for the DOE's Office of Science. The laboratory employs over 7,000 staff and operates with a FY2025 budget of $2.8 billion.

ORNL houses several key facilities, including the Spallation Neutron Source, the High Flux Isotope Reactor, and the Frontier supercomputer. Under the leadership of Director Stephen Streiffer, who took office in 2023, the lab continues its role as a primary hub for science and energy research.
