Restorative Justice International

Restorative Justice International (RJI) is a global association and network of over 7,200 members, founded in 2009 by international justice expert Lisa Rea. Its mission is to promote and advocate for public policies grounded in victims-driven restorative justice, emphasizing the restoration of victims and communities harmed by crime while urging offenders to take direct responsibility for their actions.

RJI functions as a central hub connecting a broad coalition of stakeholders — including lawmakers, nonprofits, universities, crime victims, businesses, law enforcement agencies, government bodies, ex-offenders, and faith communities — enabling them to share information and learn about best practices in restorative justice globally. Its Global Advisory Council comprises 19 leaders in restorative justice, criminal justice reform, and human rights.

The organization educates and advocates through tracking field advances, public dissemination, podcasts highlighting restorative justice leaders, and consultancy services for governments, NGOs, and educational institutions. Its Hub Project further organizes members and affiliates by subject area to facilitate national and global networking and collaboration toward systemic justice reform.

Innovations in conflict resolution, victim-offender mediation technology, or justice reform policy are directly relevant to RJI, given its role as an international advocate and resource center for advancing restorative justice practices at scale.
