Samsara Inc. is a U.S. technology company specializing in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for physical operations. It is publicly traded on the NYSE under the ticker IOT (Class A) and is a component of the Russell 1000, operating across the IoT, fleet management, and video telematics industries. Founded in 2015 by Sanjit Biswas and John Bicket — who previously co-founded the cloud-managed networking company Meraki, later acquired by Cisco — Samsara is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

The company markets what it calls the Connected Operations Cloud (or Platform), a combined hardware-and-software offering. Its products include GPS fleet tracking, dashcams, reefer monitoring, and Wi-Fi hotspot services, with core application areas spanning video-based safety, vehicle telematics, equipment monitoring, and workflow/app tools. It is also growing OEM telematics integrations that capture data from manufacturers' connected vehicles. Samsara's stated mission is to increase the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the operations that power the global economy.

Samsara completed its IPO in December 2021, raising approximately $805 million at $23 per share for an initial market valuation of over $11 billion. The business has scaled across product lines: video-based safety and vehicle telematics each contribute more than $500 million in annual recurring revenue, with equipment monitoring and other businesses adding roughly $150 million. Its reported employee count was 5,524 as of May 31, 2026.

Samsara serves large enterprise operations across transportation, logistics, construction, food and beverage, and field services. Its total addressable market for connected operations is estimated at $137 billion, with connected fleet solutions representing roughly $51 billion. As an IoT and physical-operations platform company, innovations in this space are directly central to its product roadmap, customer value, and competitive position.
