Schaeffler — Stronger TogetherSchaeffler (Schaeffler AG / the Schaeffler Group) is a German global motion technology company and a leading automotive and industrial supplier. Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, its high-precision products and system solutions are used across applications ranging from automotive drivetrains and high-speed trains to wind turbines, production machinery and aircraft.
It is one of Germany's largest family-owned industrial companies and is publicly traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FWB: SHA), a member of the SDAX index. Founded by Wilhelm and Georg Schaeffler, the company today has Georg F. W. Schaeffler as family shareholder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board, with Klaus Rosenfeld as CEO and Claus Bauer as CFO.
A major recent development was the merger with Vitesco, completed October 1, 2024, creating a leading motion technology company with four divisions: E-Mobility, Powertrain & Chassis, Vehicle Lifetime Solutions, and Bearings & Industrial Solutions. On a combined/pro-forma basis the entity generates around €25 billion in annual revenue, employs some 120,000 people, and operates more than 34 R&D centers and over 100 production sites worldwide. For 2024 (Vitesco consolidated only in Q4), reported revenue was €18.2 billion with EBIT before special items of €811 million; early 2025 reporting indicated a challenging transition with a €632 million loss tied to a job-reduction program.
Schaeffler supplies the world's leading automotive OEMs with products such as valve train components, variable camshaft timers, belt & chain drive systems, thermal-management modules, and wheel bearings—on average 60 components in every vehicle worldwide. Its aftermarket and industrial brands include LuK, INA and FAG. As a motion technology supplier spanning e-mobility and industrial applications, innovation in this space is directly relevant to its core business.
