Shell plc 2024 Annual Report & Accounts (SEC Filing)

Shell plc (formerly Royal Dutch Shell) is a British-Dutch multinational energy company headquartered at Shell Centre, London, UK. Tracing its origins to a mid-19th-century London seashell trading business, it was formally constituted in 1907 through a partnership between the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and the Shell Transport and Trading Company. Today it is consistently ranked among the largest corporations in the world by revenue.

The company operates across five business segments: Integrated Gas, Upstream, Marketing, Chemicals and Products, and Renewables and Energy Solutions. For fiscal year 2022, Shell reported revenues of $272.7 billion, underscoring its substantial scale in global energy markets. Shell is dual-listed on the London Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SHEL.

Shell is led by CEO Wael Sawan, who has articulated a strategy of making the company "simpler, more resilient and more competitive," with ambitions to become the world's leading integrated gas and LNG business. The company's "Powering Progress" energy transition strategy, updated in 2024, includes a target to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and to halve emissions from its own operations by 2030.

As one of the world's foremost energy producers and traders, Shell is directly relevant to innovations in energy transition, low-carbon technologies, LNG, hydrogen, and large-scale industrial decarbonization — areas where it is actively investing and reshaping its business portfolio.
