Slovak Republic Ministry of Environment

The Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, re-established on November 2, 2010, serves as the central state administrative authority and supreme inspection authority in environmental affairs. It coordinates environmental activities across all ministries and other central state administrative authorities within the country.

The Ministry's mandate covers a wide range of domains, including nature and landscape protection, waste management, air protection, and the protection of water resources. It is also responsible for environmental impact assessments, geological works, and the management of a unified information system for environment and area monitoring.

Led by Tomáš Taraba, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry oversees several instituted organizations, such as the Environmental Fund, the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate, and the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute. Innovation in this space is relevant to the Ministry's role in managing national environmental policy and monitoring ecological quality.
