USTMA – About Us (ustires.org)The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) is the national trade association for tire manufacturers producing tires in the United States. Founded in 1915 as the Rubber Club of America and rebranded as USTMA in 2017, it is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and led by President Anne Forristall Luke.
USMTA's 12 member companies — including Bridgestone Americas, Goodyear, Michelin North America, Continental Tire the Americas, and others — operate 55 facilities across 16 states. The industry accounts for more than 329,527 direct jobs, supports over 936,004 jobs nationwide in total, and carries an annual economic footprint of $259.5 billion.
The association's mission is to strengthen the reputation, societal impact, and competitiveness of U.S. tire manufacturing across four pillars: Safety, Sustainability, Economic Value, and Innovation. It advocates before federal and state policymakers on issues including tire safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable materials research — such as developing alternative domestic natural rubber sources like guayule plants and dandelions.
Innovations in sustainable materials, tire safety technology, or domestic supply chain resilience are directly relevant to USTMA, given its active role in science-based public policy advocacy and its push for federal investment in next-generation manufacturing inputs.
