Transport for London (TfL)
The integrated transport authority responsible for most of London's transport network.
Transport for London - About TfLTransport for London (TfL) is a local government body and an executive agency within the Greater London Authority (GLA). Established on 3 July 2000 under the Greater London Authority Act 1999, it is a statutory corporation governed by a board appointed by the Mayor of London and led by a Commissioner.
TfL is responsible for implementing the Mayor of London's Transport Strategy and managing the city's transport operations. Its extensive network includes the London Underground, London Buses, London Overground, the Elizabeth line, Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Trams, and the London Cable Car, as well as river services.
Beyond rail and bus services, TfL manages London's main roads, traffic management, and cycling infrastructure, including Santander Cycles. It also regulates taxis and minicabs, making it the central authority for the capital's public transport and road infrastructure.
