Veolia Environnement S.A. (branded as Veolia) is a French transnational company headquartered in Aubervilliers, France, and listed on Euronext Paris. The company operates across three core service areas historically managed by public authorities: water management, waste management, and energy services. Its origins date to 1853, when Compagnie Générale des Eaux was established by Imperial decree of Napoleon III; the company took its current name in 2003 following a spin-off from Vivendi Universal.

Veolia is the world's number one operator in both water-related services (39.8% of revenue) and waste management services (34.8% of revenue), with energy services accounting for the remaining 25.4%. In 2025, the group employed approximately 215,000 people across 56 countries and recorded revenue of €44.396 billion. Its strategic mission is to be the benchmark company for ecological transformation, providing solutions for sustainable resource access, preservation, and replenishment.

In March 2022, Veolia completed its combination with Suez, significantly expanding its scale. That same year, the group supplied drinking water to 111 million inhabitants, provided sanitation to 97 million, produced 44 terawatt hours of energy, and recovered 61 million tonnes of waste. Estelle Brachlianoff became CEO in July 2022, succeeding Antoine Frérot who remained as board chairman.

Given Veolia's central role in ecological transformation — spanning circular economy, resource recovery, and decarbonisation of urban infrastructure — innovations in environmental technology, digital resource management, or sustainable infrastructure are highly relevant to its global operations.
