WADA - Who We AreEstablished on November 10, 1999, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. The agency is composed and funded equally by world governments and the Olympic Movement, with government contributions formalized through the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport and the Copenhagen Declaration.
WADA's primary role is to develop, harmonize, and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies globally. It oversees the World Anti-Doping Code and eight International Standards to ensure consistency among various anti-doping organizations and international federations that are signatories to the Code.
Currently led by President Witold Bańka, Vice-President Yang Yang, and Director General Olivier Niggli, the agency is working toward a revised 2027 Anti-Doping Code. Its work includes maintaining enforcement actions, such as the non-compliant status of Russia's anti-doping body.
