FastClaim: Urgent-Communication Claim-Staking Service for Materials Discoveries
FastClaim is a publication-acceleration service for principal investigators at university inorganic and materials-chemistry labs and R&D leads at specialty chemical and catalyst startups. When a discovery hits, an AI pipeline drafts a short, journal-ready 'urgent communication' and positions it against prior literature, while the named human authors verify every claim and disclose the AI assistance — because journal policies on AI-drafted work still vary. The result is a dated, peer-reviewed record within weeks (Dalton Transactions reports 23-day first decisions), staked while the full study continues in parallel.

We've built literature-discovery and refinement pipelines, so a reality check from that work: positioning a draft against prior literature via semantic retrieval is not novelty verification. The nearest prior art rarely shares your vocabulary — retrieval misses it, reviewers find it fast. And for the patent-staking use case, the corpus that matters is patents, not papers. A dated preprint stakes priority in days; a 23-day first decision adds peer review, not proven legal weight. We'd validate the staking premise before building the drafting pipeline.
