We have spent significant engineering time on semantic clustering of unstructured text into idea graphs. The assumption that a node-link diagram solves the disfluency problem is inverted: repetitions and self-corrections in speech do not vanish, they multiply into duplicate nodes and spurious edges. Cleaning a messy graph is cognitively harder than cleaning a transcript, because users must prune topology, not just text.
